Wallen, Rothman: $4.8 Million Secured for Projects in the District
September 15, 2026
ABBOTTSTOWN – Rep. Catherine Wallen (R-Adams/Cumberland) and Sen. Greg Rothman (R-Cumberland/Perry/Dauphin) announced nearly $1.5 million in Local Share Account (LSA) grants will help to fund projects in the district, as well a $3.3 million First Industries Fund (FIF) loan to Farm Fresh Turkey Products in New Oxford.
“These investments are a great example of how funding can make a real difference in our communities. From replacing aging public safety and public works vehicles to improving water infrastructure, emergency medical services and recreational facilities, these projects address important local needs and strengthen the services residents rely on every day,” Wallen said. “I’m pleased to support this funding and the communities that are putting these dollars to work to improve infrastructure and quality of life for residents.”
The following LSA grants were awarded in the district:
• Biglerville Borough received $82,769 to purchase and equip a new police vehicle.
• Cumberland Area Economic Development Corp., on behalf of the Shippensburg University Foundation, received $97,534 to purchase equipment for Morgan Makerspace.
• Dickinson Township received $200,000 for improvements to Lindenwood Park, including additional parking, a pavilion, ADA-compliant restrooms and sport courts for basketball, pickleball, tennis and sand volleyball.
• Menallen Township, on behalf of the Possum Valley Municipal Authority, received $82,623 to purchase a compact track loader and grading bucket.
• Shippensburg Borough received $134,538 to purchase a new public works bucket truck.
• Shippensburg Township received $124,000 to purchase a new public works vehicle.
• Southampton Township, on behalf of Shippensburg Area EMS Inc., received $376,920 to purchase a new ambulance to replace the oldest vehicle in its fleet.
• York Springs Borough, on behalf of the York Springs Municipal Authority, received $368,000 to install 1,000 feet of new water main, along with fire hydrants and valves.
“These grant awards are important investments in our communities and will benefit taxpayers for years to come,” Rothman said. “This funding will support essential government services, emergency response and outdoor recreation, and I am glad to have advocated for the their approval.”
The grants were approved and awarded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, which was established as an independent agency that holds fiduciary responsibility over the funding of programs and investments in Pennsylvania’s economic growth. LSA grants are derived from gaming revenues.
The FIF low-interest loan will be used to purchase machinery and equipment at the Farm Fresh Turkey Products, previously known as Plainville Farms, in New Oxford. The FIF program aims to strengthen Pennsylvania’s agriculture and tourism industries through loan guarantees.
“This loan will help provide the needed equipment to allow the company to grow and supports nearly 700 local jobs, family farms and Pennsylvania agriculture, with additional jobs expected to be created,” Wallen said. “This funding, which will be paid back, is an example of a smart investment in our local community that will have a big impact on our local and state economy.”
